The slight rise on the rights side of his head (your left) is some hematoma (collection of blood) that will absorb away shortly. It is a result of 'crowining' quickly and needing to rotate. Otherwise, perfectly healthy. He was the nurse's first perfect 10-10 APGAR scoring baby.

Laura and I learned that we were pregnant again around Christmas-time. So, that means three children all very close to about 2 years apart. Evelyn, August 31, 2006; Hank, July 2, 2008 and this boy is projected at July 26, 2010.
I'm happy because I know what it is like growing up in the middle of two sisters, ehh. And, this means one more Kelley boy for my dad who fears the extinction of the Kelleys. Mom is happy because she predicted correctly... again. Laura's family, not unhappy, but disappointed because there is a serious lack of girls in the extended family and this makes 6 grandsons and 1 granddaughter for Dan & Deb (who had two girls).
Evelyn went with us to the ultrasound. She was a little quiet when she learned it was a boy and then said, "Hank will be happy!"

With me, of course. Evie and I went to town for dinner at the Downtown Bakery and the Regent Theater to watch Madagascar 2. She was so excited she could hardly pay attention at dinner. She ate lots of potato salad and a little pasta salad as well. We had lots of snacks at the theater (Dots, popcorn and PB Rice Krispy treats).
She loved the "giant t.v." and pointed out the "baby lion" out loud. Unfortunately the movie was a bit over her age. The opening scene the baby lion gets abducted by hunters while his father is fighting another lion. Daddy lion then gets shot. EEK! She made it almost an hour in the movie. We then made it home and she told Mom all about it.

Henry had a day full of eating and sleeping - what a boy! He has been relatively calm all day, occasionally looks around and he loves to snuggle. He's been healthy in all ways - thank you Jesus!
The big events happened this evening when Hank watched his first fireworks show (we could see Allegan's from our hospital window), and he is now watching his first Tiger's game.
Evelyn has been with my parents and spent a lot of time today with her cousins (Ariel, Israel, Angel & Zion). It sounded like she was having lots of fun and may be disappointed to go home. We are anxious to see how she will respond to having the baby home.
We hope to be home tomorrow after noon - we are ready!

"Hank" was born at 3:57 PM (Wednesday, July 2nd) at Borgess Hospital. He looks great and is doing very well. He came out screaming and quickly latched on to breast feeding. Hank weighs 7 lbs. 3 oz. and is 21 inches long. He has a little brown hair and has done a lot of looking around already. Laura did wonderful through delivery and Heather Luyk was such a blessing in the delivery room.

Tonight was Evie's first night in her "big girl bed." We set out the mattresses last night in the living room and told her it was her "big girl bed." She climbed up on top of them and jumped all around saying "big girl, big girl, big girl bed." She was familiar with the idea as Laura has been reading a book about big girl beds.
We thought she would be heartbroken to lose her crib - but it didn't seem to bother her much. After I put the bed together in her room she climbed up on it herself, laid down, covered up and said "nigh-night." So, the real test was bedtime. We put her in and she was sleeping within three minutes. She did not even wake when I took this picture.

Go ahead, take a look. Even those with an untrained eye can see that is a BOY! He's due July 6th.
Laura learned on Monday, before I returned on Tuesday, that we are having a boy. One of each, that relieves some pressure. All of our siblings have either one or the other. We will be the first in both families to have both genders.
This is also a blessing as my grandparents (Rev. Kenneth & Jackqulene Kelley) had eight children, four boys. Of those four boys there are only four Kelley grandsons out of about 35 grandchildren (Marc, Nathan, Jason and Tyler). So far, only my cousin Jason has had two boys. So, maybe this boy will have descendants "as numerous as the stars" and fill the earth with Kelleys - maybe... if we name him Isaac.
