As I child I had to do chores in any kind of weather but the worst of times was when we had calves. My sisters loved the floppy-eared, lanky-legged licking monsters but I knew it meant added responsibility. The rest of the animals in the barn only demanded that I toss hay into their pen and make sure they had water - but calves demanded a lot more attention and TIME. Calves had to be bottle fed which required mixing the formula, cleaning the bottles, and holding the bottle while they nursed. My impatient mind couldn't stand this.
Every baby - whether animal or human - requires extra attention. When a family gets a puppy they can't leave the house too long, or let it go too long without food, and it's potty training demands extra patience. The development of the human is one of the most extensive among all creatures and takes twenty-plus years in which they are not handed over all responsibility. Human babies can't even eat regular food without the risk of allergic reactions or other dangers.
The writer of the book of Hebrews
I fear a lot of Christians miss out on some rich and exciting parts of
the faith because the rest of the Christians don't take the time to
walk them through the milk parts of the faith.
